Structure of the Kampitsis Cytology Coding System
The system is based on an alphanumeric structure that encodes cytological diagnoses across all organs.
Each code consists of:
A prefix indicating the anatomical source
A numerical classification based on diagnostic categories
Additional digits for further specification
The classification includes:
Benign always in every specimen code 0
Atypical. always in every specimen code 1
Suspicious. always in every specimen code 2
Malignant always in every specimen code 3
Unclassified. always in every specimen code 4
Unsatisfactory. always in every specimen code 5
so we have 6 categories that include all cytological and also anosocytochemical results from every organ
